The SPoKE Competition is aware of its obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018. It is committed to processing your data securely and transparently and will only use it legally and responsibly.

The SPoKE Competition needs to keep certain personal data and sensitive personal data in order to fulfil its purpose. This includes, but is not limited to, personal data about event contributors, competition applicants, judges, event attendees, and others.

We only collect information that is necessary to run the SPoKE Competition, fulfil our obligations to you, and keep you informed about our activities.

The personal data we collect may include:

  • your name and title;

  • your email address;

  • your date of birth;

  • your gender;

  • your school name and school year;

  • your university or affiliation;

  • your postal address;

  • your phone number;

  • the events that you attend in connection with us;

  • still images, videos and audio recordings of your participation in the SPoKE Competition.

We will not sell your personal information to any third parties or external organisations but we may share some of your personal information with our service providers/external data processors, to carry out work on our behalf or to help us deliver a service to you. In the case of events, we may share some of your personal information with institutions and people with whom we collaborate. For example, when hosting the awards ceremony we will share a list of attendees with the venue. All competition entries and names of competition applicants will be shared with the SPoKE Competition judging panel.
